Wir haben in den letzten Wochen in Brisbane sorgfältig nach Konzert-Ankündigungen gesucht. Es gab nichts, weder in den diversen Veranstaltungskalendern, noch auf der "Our Brisbane" Website. Offenbar müsste da jemand gefeuert werden.

Die mangelnde Information spiegelte sich dann auch in der Besuchszahl wieder. Es waren nur 40 - 50 Personen in The Globe (einem kleinen alternativen Kino-/Konzertraum auf der Brunswick Street im Valley), das eigentlich 350 Personen aufnehmen kann.

Der Abend begann auch eigentümlich. Es hieß "doors'at 8pm“, aber sie haben uns erst 20:40 an die Kasse und in den Vorraum gelassen. Und dort haben wir bis fast 22 Uhr auf den Konzertbeginn gewartet. Aber dann begann es - wir saßen auf dem Teppichboden (es gab keine Stühle, sondern nur ein einzelnes viersitziges Sofa) - und sofort haben David und Harry den Raum mit ihren wunderbaren Klängen gefüllt. Sie wussten vom miserablen Ticketverkauf (ich hatte am Nachmittag noch eine E-Mail Korrespondenz mit David), haben aber für die wenigen Gäste alles gegeben. Es war eine ganz entspannte und intime Atmosphäre. David kommentierte mit witzigen Sprüchen. Und offenbar lief es auch gut mit den lokalen Soundhelfern, denn nach einigen Abstimmungen war der volle Klang im Raum, der vergessen ließ, dass da nur 2 Personen musizierten. Ich fand es so schön, ganz dicht vor der Bühne zu sitzen und jede Geste verfolgen zu können. David und Harry sind ja so aufeinander eingespielt, dass es eine Freude ist, ihre kleinen Abstimmungen zu verfolgen. Ich war übrigens überrascht, wie toll auch Harry singen kann. Ich habe ihn immer nur als tollen Gitarristen und am Keyboard wahrgenommen. Sie haben viele Lieder von der CD „Ship of Dreams“ gespielt.

Der Abend endete für uns sehr emotional. Den Song der ersten Zugabe "Tears fall" hat David so angekündigt: „I dedicate the next song for a friend, Little Dancing Bear *). I think he is here tonight, yes, I am sure...“ („Ich widme das nächste Lied einem Freund, Little Dancing Bear. Ich denke, er ist hier heute abend unter uns, ja ich bin ganz sicher ...“). Unsere Tränen hatten freien Lauf.

David hat nach dem Konzert CDs signiert und mit vielen Fans geplaudert wie z.B. mit einer Guppe, die schon am Vorabend im ausverkauften Konzert an der Gold Coast war und einfach noch nicht genug von der schönen Musik hatte.

"As part of his Australian tour, David Knopfler played with Harry Bogdanovs to a select group of fans at the Globe Theatre in the Valley, Brisbane for just one night on Saturday, 3 November 2007. Although the theatre has a capacity of 350, the publicity for the Brisbane concert had been understated, limited in scope, and started too late, resulting in a less than capacity audience of around 50. This was great for those who turned up as the environment was cozy and the audience was able to get up close and relax most comfortably. Drawing on many old favourites from his albums, especially “Ship of Dreams”, David also took the opportunity to pepper his presentations with some songs we had previously not heard, reminiscing on his early days in South London. The teamwork between the two artists was brilliant, and their complementarity clearly comes from years of playing together, and a perfect understanding of both the technical, musical requirements and the need to mutually support each other artistically. Not for this pair the one-upmanship seen in some duos, but sheer technical brilliance, no matter which one took the keyboard or guitar. David seemed light hearted and good humoured and recognized friends who had been at earlier performances at the Gold- and the Sunshine Coasts and those who have followed him to concerts around the world. Personally, we especially appreciated the encore with “Tears fall” that was dedicated to Little Dancing Bear, who David felt was amongst us, and the tears were flowing freely! After the show, David spent time chatting with the crowd, signing “Ship of Dreams” (the only CD available for sale) and even some old vinyl from the ‘80s that had been resurrected by fans from the storerooms. It was a wonderful evening and a rare treat for us all. Come back again soon!"
